Il presente scritto esamina le soluzioni adottate dal regolamento (UE) 2024/1689 per promuovere la diffusione di un’IA “antropocentrica e affidabile” e garantire un livello elevato di protezione dei diritti fondamentali. Lo scritto si articola in tre parti dedicate, rispettivamente, alla politica dell’Unione europea in materia di IA, all’ambito di protezione dei diritti fondamentali offerta dall’IA Act e agli strumenti utilizzati a tal fine. L’analisi mira ad evidenziare pregi e profili di criticità dell’IA Act.

EU Artificial Intelligence Act and Human Rights
This paper examines the solutions adopted by Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 to promote “human-centric and trustworthy” AI and to protect fundamental rights. The paper is divided into three parts dedicated, respectively, to the European Union policy on AI, to the scope of protection of fundamental rights offered by the IA Act and to the tools used for this purpose. The analysis aims at verifying advantages and critical aspects of the AI Act.
